Morton High School (Ind.) Class of 2028 wide receiver Corderro Bennett figures to be one of the top sophomore prospects in the Hoosier State.
At the Pylon 7v7 regionals in Indianapolis this winter, the 6-foot-5, 190-pound wide receiver was hard to cover. Using his height, athletic frame, and long arms which form a wide catch radius, Bennett caught everything thrown his way, leaping over defenders, high-pointing the ball and making acrobatic catches look easy. Throw in his great size-speed ratio and it’s not hard to see why he has already hit the double-digit offer mark.
Here’s the latest on his recruiting.
Purdue, Kentucky, Toledo, Western Michigan, Ball State, Auburn, Kansas State, Illinois and Mississippi have all offered, but one team has emerged as a key frontrunner: the in-state Hoosiers.
“Well, I went to a college visit and they just said they wanted to watch more film to see how I play, so they came and visited me and they offered me,” he said. “It was my dream school. So, I was kind of happy for it. I’ve been an Indiana fan since I was five because my dad used to take me to some of the games and just like the atmosphere.”
“I think it’s pretty cool because they came a long way from losing games to being national champs, not losing no games. So I feel like Coach Cignetti coming in was a big part of the program winning, and I feel like if he stays, we’re just going continue to win and go back. I like the way they give the receivers a chance to go get the ball. You know, they’re not scared to take deep shots, just get receivers a chance to make the play.”
The national championship-winning season is a special factor that appeals to Bennett. There’s still a long way to go with his recruiting, but he wants to commit to a winning program and the Hoosiers certainly fit the bill. Other programs he is receiving strong interest from are Ball State, Kansas State, and Auburn.
“Just to get a bigger connection with the coaches, I feel like, to see if it’s the best fit for me. Go to camps, build connections, you know, just to see what’s next.”
