Ohio State Offer An Emotional One For 2028 Edge Asa Burch

Warren G. Harding (Ohio) Class of 2028 edge Asa Burch picked up an offer from the in-state Buckeyes yesterday, and the 6-foot-4, 225-pound prospect couldn’t be happier.

Burch, who attends high school near Youngstown, was fired up about the opportunity.

“When I think of Ohio State, I think of great people that know how to win on a high level and people that are also focused on the development of players mentally, who stay and show they care for them,” he told Midwest Preps after receiving the offer.  “It means to be a good football player (and) to be a better human being and knowing there is life after football.”

It was a busy day for Burch as he also picked up an offer from Oregon.  Kent State and Youngstown State offered this week as well, and more opportunities will undoubtedly come for the rising junior.  The offer from Ohio State, though, was particularly special.

“I had a long conversation with Ryan day and then (linebackers) Coach (James) Laurinaitis, so I knew something was up,” Burch said. “Then we went to Coach Laurinaitis’s office and he offered me.  I began to cry but I tried my best to hold back some of the tears.”

Burch also got connected quickly with defensive assistant Sam McGrath.

“For both of them, they really care about the players and the culture of Ohio State, but most importantly they want me to be the best I can be,” he said.

Burch is heading to Michigan today, then has plans to visit Michigan State, Indiana and Kentucky.  He added that he plans to give a verbal commitment by the end of the upcoming season.
