2027 Edge Leslie Woodson Wants to Build His Own Legacy

The last name “Woodson” carries a lot of weight around Fort Wayne, Ind., given NFL Hall of Famer Rod Woodson is a graduate of Snider High School.

One of his cousins – North Side High School (Ind.) Class of 2027 edge Leslie Woodson – is in-line to become a future star, yet he’s making it clear he wants to create a name for himself and not be remembered as the cousin of the longtime NFL player for the Steelers, 49ers, Ravens and Raiders.

“It means a lot to me just to carry that last name, a legacy is a blessing,” he said. “When people look at me, they say, ‘Rod Woodson’s little cousin,’ but I want to be known as Leslie Woodson, and not ‘Rod Woodson’s cousin.’”

Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan, Northern Illinois and Toledo were his offers before his team’s college day workout.

“Great programs,” Woodson said. “I love them. They’ve been really interested in me, I look forward to getting up to the camps and getting on some official visits here soon.”

After checking him out in-person yesterday, Ohio, Western Illinois, Kent State, Austin Peay and Miami (Ohio) also offered the 6-foot-4, 220-pound prospect.

“I’ve talked to Michigan State,” Woodson said of Power 4 interest. “I’ve been talking to Missouri. Wherever I land home is where I land home, so I don’t have anywhere specifically where I’ve made up in my mind yet. I plan on planning on a show during my senior year. I gained about 25 pounds, working out some more, and just having a really good breakout season, my senior year.”

Woodson is not currently ranked by any of the major recruiting websites.
