East Noble High School (Ind.) Class of 2029 linebacker Austin Phillips caught up with Midwest Preps about his recent visit to Notre Dame. The rising sophomore prospect is a fast-rising name to know in Indiana, and tells us he plans to camp with the Irish on June 9.
What did you think of the facilities and campus?
Can’t get any better than the Notre Dame campus. Everything is close and it’s really nice. The facilities are top notch; everything at Notre Dame is. Can’t wait to see the new Athletic Complex when it opens this year.
Which coaches were you able to connect with and how did that go?
I talked with Coach BJ and Coach Reader. I first met Coach BJ when I camped at Michigan last year. It was my first time meeting Coach Reader. Both were great to talk to.
Since it’s early, did they discuss how you could fit into Notre Dame and what they think of your tape?
We didn’t discuss that yet. Look to talk more about those things when I camp there in June.
When you think about Notre Dame, what comes to mind for you? What stands out about the brand?
I think of one of the best football traditions in the country. I think about excellence on the football field and in the classroom. It has a national fan base and unbelievable resources. Happy to only live 90 minutes away.
