High Upside 2029 RB Caden Sharp Reflects on Purdue Offer

Desmet Jesuit High School (Mo.) wide receiver Caden Sharp is a fast-rising name in the Class of 2029 from the Show-Me State.  College coaches have quickly taken note of his talents, earning his first offer last September from Nebraska.  More recently, Purdue and Colorado State have also extended offers.

Sharp caught up with us last month about his offer from Purdue and what he thinks of the Boilermakers.  He quickly connected with Purdue wide receivers coach Bilal Marshall, among other Purdue staffers he is developing relationships with.

“Later walking back from lunch I got a text from my coach saying that Purdue had offered,” Sharp said. “I was extremely grateful and proud of myself. Coach Marshall is a very straightforward guy, not sugarcoating anything and I liked that about him, letting me know what’s real.”

College coaches undoubtedly see Sharp’s potential following a productive freshman season, where he recorded 41 carries for 395 yards and four touchdowns, and added 546 yards and six touchdowns in the return game.  Sharp has great change-of-direction, vision, ability to make defenders miss and great top-end speed, all of which will only get better in the next three years.

“I have no college visits lined up right now but I’ll be ready for whatever the future holds,” Sharp said. “Purdue is a great school and the program advocates for success.   When I think of Purdue, I think of a school who wants to get win.”

“Right now I don’t think I’ll be committing anytime soon and I don’t know when I’m going to make a decision,” he added. “So I’ll lean towards God and pray on it to help with the timing and decision.”

It’s still very early for Sharp – he is still just a rising sophomore – but expect him to develop into one of the region’s best prospects.
