Top In-State ’27 DE Munir Lewis Recaps Ohio State Visit

Brush High School (Ohio) edge Munir Lewis visited Ohio State this week and left with an offer from the Buckeyes. He recapped his visit to Columbus in an interview yesterday.

What stood out to you about the campus and facilities?
What really stood out to me was how everything is set up for player development. The facilities are top tier and you can tell they invest a lot into their athletes. Being able to watch practice and see how everything runs up close was big for me too. The whole environment felt very professional and organized, and you can see why they consistently compete at such a high level.

On the Ohio State culture:
The culture really stood out because of how detailed and focused everyone was. When practice started it got really quiet because everyone was locked in and focused on their job. You can tell the standard there is really high and everyone is expected to meet it. At the same time, the coaches and staff treated me with a lot of respect and made me feel welcome, which says a lot about the program.

On coaches he connected with:
I connected with a few coaches during the visit. Coach Patrick was the one who originally invited me out and helped set everything up. I also spent time with Coach Johnson during a private position meeting, and he was the one who offered me. He broke down some things about my game and really showed why people call him one of the best D-line coaches in the country. I also spoke a little with Coach Patricia and Coach Day at the end of practice. My impression of all of them is that they’re very knowledgeable and genuine, and they made it clear that they’re really interested in building a relationship with me.

On what’s next with Ohio State:
The next step is continuing to build the relationship. Coach Day invited me back for their spring game on April 18th, and the staff wants to get me back on campus again soon. We’re also starting to talk about setting up an official visit, so I’m looking forward to getting back up there and spending more time with the program.

On upcoming schools and visits:
Right now I’m continuing to talk with a few different schools and keeping my options open while building relationships with the coaching staffs. I’m planning on taking more visits this spring so I can get a better feel for each program and see where I fit best.
