Tri-Village High School (Ohio) Class of 2027 offensive tackle Dominic Black visited Ohio State yesterday and he caught up with Midwest Preps to discuss his visit. Black holds 32 offers and has quickly emerged as a top prospect in Ohio.
What stood out to you about the campus and facilities?
What really stood out to me was how everything is set up for player development. The facilities are top level, from the weight room to the training and recovery areas, and you can tell they invest a lot into helping their athletes succeed. The campus itself was impressive too—it’s big, but everything feels connected and there’s a lot of school pride everywhere you go.
What stands out to you about the culture and why?
The culture really stood out to me because of how competitive and detailed everything is. The coaches talked a lot about accountability, development, and competing every day. You can tell the expectations are high, but at the same time the players and coaches seemed very close and supportive of each other. It felt like a place where guys push each other to be their best on and off the field.
Which coaches did you connect with? What did they have to say about you and what is your impression of them?
I spent time with Coach Day, Coach Bowen, and Coach Dickey and they were all great. They talked to me about how I could fit into their system and what they like about my game. They emphasized my ability to compete and continue developing at the next level. My impression of them was really positive—they were genuine, very knowledgeable, and you can tell they care about their players as people, not just athletes.
What’s the next step for you and the program?
The next step is continuing to build the relationship. I’m planning to return on March 28 for another visit and spend more time with the coaches and staff. I’m looking forward to learning more about the program and continuing those conversations.
Who are some of the other schools you are interested in and visits scheduled?
I have several visits planned this spring. Right now I’m looking at visiting Penn State, Pitt, Indiana, Duke, UNC, Virginia Tech, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Kentucky as well as a few others. I’m still working on finalizing some of the exact dates, but I’m excited to get on those campuses and continue building relationships with those programs as well.
