Prospects in the Hoosier State are committing left-and-right, making their decisions for their future homes at the next level. Among the many standouts who have made their college decision is Culver Military Academy (Ind.) Class of 2027 offensive lineman Charlee Lawson.
The 6-foot-6, 310-pound offensive tackle chose Miami University (Ohio) as his future home last week and caught up with us about his decision.
“Miami was the first school to offer me,” said Lawson, who announced the offer on Aug. 25, 2025. “They offered me my freshman year summer at the UIndy (Mega) camp. Knowing they believed in me and my potential from the very beginning made me feel like that was going to be my future home.”
He also held offers from Michigan State and Western Illinois, but he ultimately chose the Redhawks just because of the loyalty they showed to him so early in the process.
“When I was deciding between schools I remembered Miami was always there, especially from the beginning,” Lawson said. “The coaches I’ve connected with the most are truly all of them.”
He has connected especially with fourth-year offensive line coach and run game coordinator James Patton, as well as head coach Chuck Martin.
“Obviously my relationship with (Patton) and (Martin) are the most important,” he said. “But I’ll definitely remember the memories I’ve made already with the entire coaching staff.”
For now, Lawson is gearing up for a big senior year and anchoring Culver’s offensive line in Class 4A ball and improving on the team’s 3-7 record in 2025.
“An aspect I need to work on is finishing my blocks,” he said. “I have a very good first few steps, But I need to bury the players on the others side of me.”
