Ohio HS Football

Sophomore Spotlight: Samuel Shahid, OL, St. Edward (Ohio)

Samuel Shahid, a 6-foot-3, 305-pound offensive lineman in the Class of 2028, recently picked up an offer from Miami-Ohio. We caught up with the Class of 2028 prospect and asked about his background, his views of football, and the latest on his recruiting.

When did you start playing football? How did your interest start?

I first started playing football when I was 5 but I didn’t get serious about it until the 8th grade. My interest in football started when my dad took me to a college football game and I saw how exciting it was. Since then I’ve always wanted to play at the college level.

What motivates you to play the game every day?

Watching my old self play football and see how much I have improved over time. Also what motivates me is the competitiveness. I am a competitive person and I don’t like losing.

What part of football do you enjoy the most?

The thing I enjoy most about football is the relationships you build with the players in your team.

How have you been planning over the off-season to make your team better and win state?

I have been training and lifting a lot in this off season. I am training myself to get quicker feet for pass protection so my QB can have time in the pocket.

What are you looking for the most in a college program? Who are some of the teams you’re interested in?

I am looking for a college football program that develops players, has strong coaching, and provides a good academic environment. I’m also looking for a team culture that pushes players to work hard and compete at a high level. I am interested in a variety of football programs right now as I have time to research different programs.
